A PICTURE IS WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS!!
When Dr. Powers testifies at trial, he uses an electronic overhead projection device that allows him to project images either from various imaging studies and/or drawings that he may make directly to the jury on a large screen TV which you provide to the court. This is very educational to the jury. No longer is the jury looking at a distant image on a shadow box at such a great distance that the findings are not visible to them and the technical descriptions, way over their heads. Now they can identify and see the findings with their own eyes and be aware of what the radiology expert, myself, is discussing. They can feel that they have learned something during the trial and that they have a better understanding of the anatomy that is being discussed and feel that they have actually identified the presence of disease or internal derangement, given this limited educational presentation. This is satisfying to the jury and works well with the judges who are happy that they as well as the jury can see the findings present.

BENEFITS OF OBJECTIVE TESTING
OBJECTIVE TESTING CAN LIMIT A CLAIM
Objective imaging tests can be helpful in limiting claims of subjective complaints to soft tissue injury. Sometimes imaging tests can be helpful at dating processes, although this is often more difficult and subjective. At times imaging reports are overread and inaccurate. Why should your client be paying a claim for a herniated disc when none exists objectively on imaging studies? There are some image interpreters who are poorly trained or who misinterpret findings. Quality control issues and abuse of the process can all be helped by a competent review. So often imaging studies are of inadequate quality or interpretation is based upon artifact rather than real findings. Second opinions are often useful in those cases in which significant dollars are at stake or in which there is a question as to whether or not the findings are real and may have a justification for pursuit by the opposite party. Thus, a second opinion or even primary imaging study by Daniel Powers, M.D. may be useful in determining the presence or absence of visually obvious disease. The absence of such findings speaks against a significant claim. The presence of a significant finding may be helpful in trying to settle the claim sooner rather than later.
Dr. Powers has had experience reading tens of thousands of imaging studies especially on people involved in acute and chronic trauma of the spine and joints. He also has vast experience in the interpretation of chest x-rays and CT scans on individuals exposed to industrial dusts and fibers, such as asbestos. In many different cases, it behooves the defense to get a second opinion or if necessary a primary imaging study to try to resolve the issues at hand earlier rather than later. I welcome your request and participation with our office. Because I am licensed actively in 49 states plus the District of Columbia, there are a wide range of options to you and your practice utilizing my services.
